Joseph Lerner is a Canadian composer and conductor. He began his journey in the world of music through
learning the rudimentary and fundamental principals of music through
taking private lessons. Later in life, Joseph Lerner professional and
practical education in composition, conducting and production were
perused by taking masterclasses, workshops, symposiums and seminars.
Some of the professional
musicians and music industry leaders who assisted Joseph Lerner in shaping his professional and
practical musical knowledge and skills have been Glenn Morley, Srul Irving Glick,
Dr. Samuel Dolin, Prof. John Weinzweig.
Joseph Lerner has been the recipient of numerous internationally recognized scholarships and awards: The Masterplayers International Music Academy's Achievement Award, the Pickering Metro East Music Festival Achievement Award, the First Composition Award at the Kiwanis Music Festival for his Capriccio for Oboe. In addition, Joseph Lerner's Intermezzo for Piano and Capriccio for Oboe have been recorded at the Ettore Mazzoleni Concert Hall.
Joseph Lerner has been active as a journalist and promoter in the arts and entertainment industry. He has interviewed numerous high profile artists and celebrities such as Anton Kuerti, Gino Vanelli, Glenn Morley, among many others. In the past, Joseph Lerner held the position as Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Arts Society, Chair of MAS International Competition for Composers and the resident Music Director of the Tonal Virtuosi Orchestra. In addition, he has served as the North American Liaison and Operations Manager for the Masterplayers International Music Festival in Switzerland.
One of Joseph Lerner's most well known pieces is Capriccio for Viola premiered and recorded by Teng Li, the principle violist of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Li Wang the Canadian concert pianist and the Gold Medal Winner of both International Franz Liszt and Chopin Piano Competitions.
Joseph Lerner's works have been premiered and recorded by the internationally praised artists such as Mark Skazinetsky (Associate Concertmaster of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra); Teng Li, Prof. Senya Trubashnik (over 100 solo recordings with Radio Luxembourg Symphony, EMI and Decca labels), Li Wang and many others.
